(51-70) Gwinnett Stripers @ (64-56) Memphis Redbirds – 7:45 PM ET
Pitching Probables
GWI: JR Ritchie (2-0, 3.21 ERA)
MEM: TBD
After yet another win last night, the Stripers look to keep the momentum going and have JR Ritchie on the mound tonight against the Memphis Redbirds. JR has faced the Redbirds previously (July 26th) and pitched well (5.1IP 3H 1R 0ER 1BB 2K). JR is also coming off of one his best starts of the season back on August 14th, when he pitched six shutout innings (6IP 2H 0R 1BB 6K).
Offensively, the big bats were out yesterday as Carlos Rodríguez, and
Eddys Leonard (2) both homered. The extra-base hits didn’t stop there as Conor Capel, and David McCabe added doubles themselves.
(60-55) Pensacola Blue Wahoos @ (48-65) Columbus Clingstones – 7:05 PM ET
Pitching Probables
PEN: Dax Fulton (5-9, 5.03 ERA)
COL: Drue Hackenberg (2-6, 7.71 ERA)
Columbus dropped a heartbreaker, surrendering three runs in the eighth last night, handing them the loss. Today they turn to Drue Hackenberg to try and right the ship. Drue is coming off of a decent start last time out (5.1IP 6H 3R 2ER 2BB 1K) against the Biloxi Shuckers. Drue last faced the Blue Wahoos back on April 16th (5.2IP 2H 3R 2ER 5BB 3K). He faces Dax Fulton who is coming off of one of his rockiest starts of the season (5IP 5H 5ER 5BB 6K), and last faced the Clingstones on July 13th (3.2IP 6H 4ER 3BB 7K).
It was the Patrick Clohisy show last night, as it has been most nights since his promotion to Columbus. The outfielder went 2-for-4 with a homer and totaled five bases.
(50-63) Rome Emperors 1, (48-65) Asheville Tourists 1 – SUSPENDED/3, 5:05 PM ET
ROM: Adam Maier (4-11, 5.79 ERA)
ASH: Andrew Taylor (2-3, 3.42 ERA)
Rome and Asheville will continue their game from yesterday that was suspended due to a thunderstorm. Rome scored in the first inning after Alex Lodise scored on a single by Isaiah Drake.
(50-63) Rome Emperors @ (48-65) Asheville Tourists – Game 2, TBD
ROM: Herick Hernandez (2-6, 3.87 ERA)
ASH: Derek True (2-6, 6.42 ERA)
Herick Hernandez is scheduled to start game 2 of the double header. He’s coming off of one of the most Herick Hernandez like starts, back on Augusta 14th, when he allowed just one hit over four innings of work, struck out five, but also walked six. His last start against the Tourists came back on May 27th (4IP 2H 2ER 4BB 5K). He faces Derek True who is coming off of one of his worst starts this season (4IP 10H 7ER 1BB 2K). Derek has faced the Emperors twice this season (twice in a five day span) where he pitched relatively well against them.
(54-60) Columbia Fireflies @(61-51) Augusta GreenJackets – 7:05 PM ET
COL: Jose Gutierrez (0-4, 6.04 ERA)
AUG: Kendy Richard (0-0, 0.66 ERA)
After seeing their winning streak end, the GreenJackets have now dropped two straight and a lot has to do with who they have faced. After facing two of the most impressive arms in Low-A, they face off against Jose Gutierrez tonight. Derek last faced the GreenJackets back on July 5th – lasting just 2.2 innings (2.2IP 7H 4ER 3BB 0K). After being held to just three hits, look for the GreenJackets to be aggressive and try and get back into the win column. They have Kendy Richard on the mound who has been fantastic all season in a Braves jersey (whether it be in the FCL, or in Augusta). He finally gave up an earned run his last start, but has been great for the GreenJackets since his promotion.
