Summer means the end of the college softball season, but that doesn’t mean college softball is no longer making news. Future NCAA players are finishing up their travel ball seasons culminating in the various all-star games put on by Premier Girls Fastpitch and Alliance Fastpitch. Three future Arizona Wildcats will wind up the summer season as all star.
PGF holds its annual All-American Game for seniors on July 25. The game has been played every summer since 2016 except during 2020. It will air on ESPNU
and once again feature a future Arizona Wildcat among the 40 players selected for the game.
Violet Mitchell was chosen to play for the West team this season. The infielder is one of just two Big 12 signees to appear in this year’s game.
Mitchell will be the 15th future Wildcat to play in the game, joining Sina Talataina and Kez Lucas, who played for the West team last year. Emma Kavanagh played for the East team in 2024. The 2022 game featured Tayler Biehl, Logan Cole, and Dakota Kennedy on the West team. The year before that, Paige Dimler played for the West. Izzy Pacho and Marissa Schuld appeared in 2018 before their freshman seasons at Arizona. Ivy Davis and Jenna Keane both appeared in 2017. The first ever edition featured Jessie Harper and Dejah Mulipola, as well as future transfer to Arizona Mariah Lopez.
Arizona didn’t have a representative in 2023 or 2019.
PGF began sponsoring its Futures game between juniors and sophomores in 2021. Future Wildcat Taylor Sansaver will play in the game this season. The outfielder joins three other players who have given their verbal commitments to Big 12 schools.
The Alliance Fastpitch All-Star game features high school seniors from the nine regional leagues. It has been held every year since 2021. The game will be held on July 19 at 3 p.m. MST and streamed on ESPN+.
This season, incoming freshman outfielder Gabriela Nevarez will get to play along with 39 others from around the country. She is one of five future Big 12 players selected from the Alliance Fastpitch leagues.
Nevarez will become the sixth future Wildcat to play in the Alliance All-Star game before leaving for her freshman year in Tucson. Arizona was represented by pitcher Rylie Holder last season. In 2023, Ryan Maddox and Regan Shockey got the call. Sydney Somerndike and Olivia DiNardo made the 2022 team. Arizona did not have representatives in 2024 or 2021.
