With Bayern Munich’s 2-1 preseason victory over Jeju SK in the books, the Bavarians have now won 2 of their 3 preseason friendlies. Their 4th friendly, however, will be against Europa League winners Aston Villa. It represents a big step up from the previous opposition and will test how well the players have returned from their breaks.
One of those players is Nathaniel Brown, who of course joined Bayern over the summer. Finding his way into the flow of things at Bayern, he is happy with how things are
going and is excited for the match against Villa.
“It’s going well. We’ve played two games so far and won both of them,” Brown said after the friendly against Jeju (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “I still need to get to know the guys better, especially on the pitch during matches. I’m really enjoying it. Of course, it’s pretty tough running in these temperatures. I felt it myself as well. But I think it’ll benefit us in the long run.
“Against Aston Villa, we’ll be facing a different kind of opponent. It’ll be a very good test for us, one that will show us where we stand, and we’ll be looking to rise to the challenge.”
The match will, of course, not be indicative of the team’s real strength with several players missing and weeks to go until the first competitive game of the season. But it will be an interesting barometer to see just how far Bayern are. And perhaps the Bavarians can finally their first ever match against the Villains, even if it is just a friendly.
