“War Horse” is okay.
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavyweight contender Khalil Rountree suffered a brutal knockout loss to Jiri Prochazka in the “Featured” bout of UFC 320 this past
weekend (Sat., Oct. 4, 2025) inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada (watch highlights).
The knockout was so vicious that Rountree was transported to the hospital afterward (details here).
A day later, “War Horse” broke his silence on Instagram, issuing a heartfelt message to the fans and UFC.
“Close.
So Close.
I’m ok, I’m in good spirits. I’m grateful for every positive message and every comment expressing support for what I give to this sport.
To say I’ll back is an understatement. Never stop living! Never stop fighting the good fight! For yourself, for your families, for humanity till the end.
Losses hurt, not only me.
UFC, nothing but appreciation for the platform and all of the staff that make it happen for us.
I’m here for a while, you will all see me in there again next year, and win lose or draw I’ll always fight until the last drop.
This loss isn’t easy, it’ll take time to heal & learn from this but I promise you when i say that I’ll never be the same again. See you in 2026”
Rountree (14-7-1) entered the bout determined to earn another crack at the 205-pound crown after his shutdown win over Jamahal Hill at UFC Baku earlier this year. Unfortunately, that momentum came to a sudden halt after Saturday.
The 35-year-old is now 1-2 in his last three, following a five-fight win streak that included knockouts over Anthony Smith and Chris Daukaus (watch highlights).
As for what’s next? A rematch with Johnny Walker, who stopped Rountree back in 2018 (watch highlights), could make plenty of sense.
