The Tennessee Titans have their first training camp practice on Wednesday. One of the big storylines is the new-look wide receiver room. Sophomore Elic Ayomanor is tasked with navigating how he fits in Brian Daboll’s offense.
The Titans signed Wan’Dale Robinson to a four-year, $70 million contract in free agency. Mike Borgonzi doubled down on Cam Ward’s development by drafting Carnell Tate with the fourth overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Like Chimere Dike, Ayomanor is a sophomore trying to navigate
all the newness.
Last season, the Titans were overly reliant on Ayomanor, the third of three fourth-round picks they made in 2025. Ayomanor finished second on the Titans in receiving yards (515) and tied for first in touchdowns (4, with fellow rookie Dike). The former Stanford standout placed fifth in receptions with 41.
Ayomanor and Dike unexpectedly ended up in starring roles. Calvin Ridley suffered a season-ending injury during the first half of the campaign. Veteran Tyler Lockett was released after proving to be ineffective. Ayomanor and Dike were asked to pick up the slack.
By adding Robinson and Tate, and retaining Ridley, the Titans are far better prepared at receiver. The assumption is that Tate will be the starting X receiver. Robinson is a slot, and both Ridley and Dike can play the Z position.
Ayomanor is a throwback X receiver. He’s obviously not going to beat-out Tate for that role. The Titans could move personnel around, with Tate, Robinson, and Dike all being flexible enough to play different positions. Ayomanor could find himself at X in certain packages.
Ayomanor was a useful receiver as a rookie throughout the 2025 season. The Titans desperately needed to get better at the pass-catching spots though, and that’s precisely what they did this offseason, to better support Ward. Ayomanor must navigate those challenges and compete for reps.
