On a day where we expected there to be more incomings than outgoings, it’s looking like it’ll be one and one. After rebuffing a £15 million bid earlier in the day, it’s looking like Everton and Crystal
Palace have agreed on a transfer fee of about £20 million for Dwight McNeil. A deal sheet has been submitted to give the Eagles a couple more hours to finish his medical and complete the paperwork.
The winger has been on the fringes of the squad this season despite the Blues not having many reinforcements as his performances have waned. The 26-year-old, who was often the first outfield player on the team sheet under Sean Dyche, has only played 18 times this season with one assist.
He was signed in the summer of 2022 from Burnley for about £20m and has made 120 appearances, scoring 15 goals with 19 assists in that time.
It’ll be curious to see how he fits in at Palace who seemed determined to add the player despite having Brennan Johnson, Yeremy Pino, Ismaila Sarr, Evann Guessand and Daichi Kamada in the forward roles. His versatility does come into play though as a wing-back where he could cover for Tyrick Mitchell or Daniel Munoz.
For the Toffees, they have lost Jack Grealish to injury and now McNeil, and the only addition appears to be Tyrique George who has completed his medical and should be announced soon.
