Eric Garcia has been chatting about a range of topics as Barcelona prepare to return to La Liga action on Sunday against Valencia at the Estadi Johan Cruyff.
The versatile star spoke with Gerard Romero on Jijantes and revealed he’s in talks about a new contract at the club, with his current deal set to expire next year.
“Everything will be discussed soon. We’ve started talking about a renewal. Captain? Who knows if I could be a candidate for captaincy in the future,” he said.
Eric has become a really
important player for Hansi Flick, and his versatility is a particular asset.
The Spain star has featured at right-back most recently and says he’s happy there: “I feel comfortable playing as a full-back and with Lamine, he always helps me.”
Barcelona will head to Newcastle after their clash with Valencia for their first Champions League match of the season and Garcia knows it will be a tough test due to his time in England with Manchester City.
“Newcastle’s ground is difficult. Those of us who have played there know it will be tough. As will PSG’s visit,” he explained.
In the meantime, the focus is on Valencia for Barcelona, with Garcia potentially hoping to keep his place in the starting XI for the match.
