Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich was thoroughly unhappy with himself after putting Sporting CP ahead in the Champions League match between the two teams with an unfortunate own goal.
In fact, Kimmich irate with himself.
Even with that temporary frustration, Kimmich and his mates fought right back to score a goal 11 minutes later — and by 12 minutes after that, Bayern Munich was up 3-1.
It was only a matter of time for the Bavarians broke loose and when they did, it was a thing of beauty. For
Kimmich, the reaction to falling behind 1-0 meant everything.
“The first half was good; we had three or four chances. We controlled the game. After halftime, the first 10-15 minutes weren’t as good. Towards the end, we regained more control. The reaction to conceding the goal was very good,” said Kimmich (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Despite the own goal, Kimmich was a key part of the comeback as he created plays for his teammates and took his defensive responsibilities very seriously.
Yes, that own goal will sting, but maybe it was just the push the team needed to lock in.
