LSU and Lane Kiffin have just landed a major commitment from elite edge rusher KJ Green.
Green wrapped up his official visit this weekend and made his commitment public through Hayes Fawcett of On3.
The visit went extremely well, as the Tigers rolled out
the red carpet and pulled out all the stops to secure his pledge.
Landing Green is a major sign of where things are trending for LSU on the recruiting trail. Coming off the loss of 5-star edge rusher Jaiden Bryant, Green fills a significant position of need with a player of similar caliber.
Green is rated as a 5-star prospect by 247Sports and a 4-star prospect by several other recruiting sites. He is ranked as the No. 8 edge rusher and the No. 48 overall player in the country.
Green also fits the prototypical mold that edge coach Sterling Lucas looks for in his pass rushers, checking in at approximately 6-foot-4 and over 210 pounds.
During his junior season, Green recorded just under 20 sacks and more than 40 tackles for loss. He possesses good hand usage, excellent bend as a pass rusher, and the ability to consistently disrupt opposing offenses. This is a player who is expected to be a productive and reliable pass rusher at the college level.
Pairing a player like Green with other young edge talents such as Lamar Brown and Trenton Henderson is setting LSU up to be dominant along the defensive front for years to come.
Green also becomes the first defensive commitment in LSU’s 2027 recruiting class. The Tigers now sit at five total commitments in the class, with more expected to follow.
Reports are already swirling that LSU is trending toward another flip from an SEC rival. This is only the second week of official visits, and with the recruiting dead period approaching at the end of the month, expect LSU and the Lane Train to begin picking up steam on the recruiting trail as LSU looks to stack commitments throughout the summer.
