Ohio State football head coach Ryan Day was asked about Indiana quarterback Josh Hoover on Tuesday ahead of the massive matchup for the Hoosiers this Saturday at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington.
Asked specifically about Hoover’s tendency for turnovers during his time at TCU and how he’s played much cleaner football at Indiana, Day praised Hoover’s efficiency in the Hoosiers’ offense and Indiana’s staff for putting him in position to succeed.
“They’re doing a good job of putting him in a system that
takes care of the ball,” Day said. “And that’s one of the reasons why they’ve been so successful, won so many games, because they do take care of the football. You’ve gotta give a lot of credit for their scheme.”
Hoover has completed 68.2% of his passing attempts for 1,364 yards and 17 touchdowns this season, having yet to throw an interception. His completion percentage, 10.6 yards per attempt and passer rating of 200.7 are the best of his collegiate career up to this point.
Indiana’s going to need Hoover to be at his best on Saturday against a defensive unit that’s proven it can be among the best in the sport under coordinator Matt Patricia.
