German national team head coach Julian Nagelsmann can barely contain his excitement when speaking about the upcoming arrival of Arsenal star Kai Havertz at training camp.
Havertz, who scored for Arsenal in the Champions League finale, is expected to play a key role for Germany?
“Kai will join us directly in the USA. He’s itching to be with us. We need Kai; his goal in the Champions League final was exceptional. You could see his importance, his work ethic defensively, his brilliant heading ability,
even in defensive set pieces. He’s a very good person, a really great guy, and a top player. He’ll perform well this summer,” Nagelsmann said in a statement released by the DFB (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Where Havertz plays remains to be seen. Will it be at striker over Deniz Undav? Will he play as an attacking midfielder and push Jamal Musiala to wing? Havertz could also play wing or even drop into the central midfield. Given how Nagelsmann feels about Havertz, it is hard to imagine him not starting somewhere.
