With the 2026 NFL Draft weekend behind us, teams have introduced their latest rookie class to the league in hopes of having them become part of the next Super Bowl puzzle. The draft also means we finalized past trades that included future draft picks. That includes a deal made in August 2025, which sent offensive tackle Fred Johnson from the Jacksonville Jaguars back to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Johnson made eight starts for the Eagles this past season, appearing in 59 percent of the offense’s snaps,
which was a career-high for the former undrafted free agent out of Florida.
What did the Jaguars do with the pick from the Fred Johnson trade?
The pick turned into 239 overall, but it has changed hands a few times in the last several months. The Jaguars traded the pick along with cornerback Tyson Campbell to the Cleveland Browns in October. Then, just before the trade deadline, the Browns sent the pick to the Chicago Bears as part of a deal that sent Joe Tryon-Shoyinka to the Windy City. Then the Bears traded it to the Buffalo Bills during the 2026 NFL Draft as part of an earlier Day 2 deal.
The Bills used it on punter Tommy Doman.
The Jaguars got CB Greg Newsome and pick 182 for Tyson Campbell and pick 239.
Who won the Fred Johnson trade?
Both teams got a decent amount of value out of the deal. The Eagles got some depth for their offensive line, while the Jaguars were able to boost their secondary by acquiring Greg Newsome II in a cornerback swap.
Newsome left in free agency this offseason for the New York Giants, while Johnson remains with the Eagles. The Jags got some decent production from Newsome in a limited time, but if Johnson can emerge as a successful starter for the Eagles, the tides could turn in Philadelphia’s favor.
