How are we feeling, folks? Bleary-eyed and tired? Wondering why the West Coast exists? Well, we only have two more days (nights?) of it to go, so stock up on energy drinks, get the coffee brewing, and let’s have a look at some news bites to keep us entertained until tonight’s game.
Today we’re looking at whether or not Tarik Skubal will hit his projected numbers for the season, what Scott Harris has to say about the plan for the rest of the year, and a lot of little bits and bobs from around baseball
in general.
Let’s jump right into it.
Detroit Tigers News
- ESPN has put together a list of potential milestones for players around baseball and whether they are likely to reach them (will Cal Raleigh get 61 home runs? Will Aaron Judge finish the season with a 7.2 WAR). They looked at Tarik Skubal and whether he will reach his projected 247 strikeouts for the season. Of the projection, Jeff Passan said:
Yes. Skubal is at 200 strikeouts through 25 starts. He has at least six starts remaining — possibly seven if the schedule lines up properly — and he has historically improved toward the end of the season. His September strikeout rate is his second highest of any month, and as he looks to become the first back-to-back American League Cy Young winner since Pedro Martinez in 1999-2000, finishing with a flourish will be paramount.
- Ryan Kreidler had a lovely farewell message for Tigers fans.
- An interview between Jason and Andy with Scott Harris giving some insights as we head into the final month of the season.
- So, you’re saying the Tigers have been pretty, pretty, pretty good.
- Never a bad day for a Dan Dickerson call.
