Name: Matthew Grimes
Position: Defenseman
Year: Freshman
Number: 6
Height: 6’1”
Hometown: Mattituck, NY
Last Season: Grimes has spent the last three seasons skating with Sioux Falls Stampede in the USHL. He posted the best numbers of his career there in 2025-26, scoring nine goals and adding 26 assists for 35 points in 60 regular season games. He also played in 14 playoff games, putting up 3-6-9 totals and adding in a whopping 24 penalty minutes as he helped lead Sioux Fall to their first championship
since the 2018-19 seaosn
Season Outlook: Grimes is another incoming freshman that we should expect to see in the lineup pretty much from the first game. He was listed on a pair with Nolan Joyce for both of the team’s exhibition games from this past weekend and that feels like a good spot for him to start. The scouting report on Grimes describes him as a dynamic skater, so his development should be worth keeping an eye on as he gets his BC career under way.
