Bayern Munich has recently made it clear that it is seeking to make use of its Academy in order to promote youngsters into the first team, that way avoiding to pay the ever-increasing transfer and agents fees. Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl has expressed his opinion on the fact that 9 Campus players have made their debut this season (Hanna Reif and Manuel Bonke via @iMiaSanMia).
“To quote Vincent Kompany, we don’t want to create ‘one-hit wonders’, but rather build sustainable careers.
With Lennart Karl, we have an absolute breakthrough player, and we have several others who have made their debuts. But that was just the first step; the boys have to keep working. Our coaching staff emphasizes that to them every day. But the boys have to be willing to accept it,” said Eberl.
This shows the previous commitment to youth development at Bayern Munich is no longer just a long-term idea, but an active strategy already taking shape.
