In the latest edition of Bayern Munich’s club magazine Säbener 51 (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), players were asked about the current “atmosphere and attitude” of the team and the results were extremely encouraging.
Below is how several players responded, which gives you a good idea of the type environment and overall good vibes being fostered by head coach Vincent Kompany and his coaching staff:
Serge Gnabry: “I already see parallels to the treble-winning team of 2020 – even though it’s still early
for big statements. But for me, the atmosphere in the team is the best since then. Wins always help; the belief in something bigger comes almost automatically.”
Harry Kane: “The more I play with them, the better I understand my teammates. The players understand each other and the team’s tactics better, and feel more comfortable in their positions and movements. When you start a run, you build momentum. Then you feel almost unstoppable.”
Manuel Neuer: “Right now, everyone is playing an important part in the team. Everyone feels comfortable and is contributing.”
Hiroki Itō: “Our attitude reminds me a bit of the Japanese mentality. We respect each other, fight for each other, and give everything for the club. I feel that not only in the matches but also in every training session.”
Konrad Laimer: “Everyone feels that if you give it your all and play well, you’ll get a chance. In the end, everyone is needed.”
Some of that could just be the normal, vanilla speak you might expect from any player on any team, but with this group, you could be very willing to believe it. Why? Well, this squad has show a great mentality, awesome camaraderie, and genuinely appear to support each other even in tough times.
Sure, there are some regrettable moments, but there does seem to be an energy or a vibe associated with this team that helps them bond together even in the face of adversity.
And in this case you do not have to believe us, the players themselves have detailed it.
