Andrade El Ídolo’s push continued on AEW Dynamite, with a pre-taped hype video followed by an interview with Renee Paquette. The former was more general, reminding us of The Real Latino Man’s gimmick and quest to win the World title. The latter was more specifically focused on Andrade’s issues with his old stable The Don Callis Family, and the match he had tonight (July 15) against The Family’s Jake Doyle for the right to challenge The DCF’s Mark Davis for the National title.

was one of the longer interviews I can remember Andrade ever doing in English, and he handled it well. He also revealed that he was now in possession of MJF’s Dynamite Diamond Ring, and used his catchphrase to essentially confirm it was a gift from the man who took it from the former World champion in the match where Kenny Omega took Max’s belt last week.
In the match, El Ídolo again reminded us of his gimmick, taking a selfie with and giving his number to an attractive woman in the crowd. He also took a beating from the bigger man…
But that just set him up for a big comeback, and a pinfall victory that earned him a shot at Davis’ National title at the Redemption PPV on July 26. The champ came out looking for a little more than a staredown with his old teammate, but Andrade made him think twice by flashing the Diamond Ring.
