The College Football Playoff National Championship Game takes place Monday night in Miami when the Indiana Hoosiers will look for perfection against the “home” team, the Miami Hurricanes. The “U” gets to play on their home field but will be the road team as the #1 seeded Hoosiers will get all the advantages of the home team in the game. Can Indiana complete the 16-0 undefeated season, or will a Miami team that barely got into the CFP field finish off their magical run through the gauntlet to complete the U is back
narrative.
It seems that both the general public and Las Vegas are on the same page in thinking that the Hoosiers will pull off the win and the undefeated season.
In the SB Nation Reacts poll, 93% of the fan are cheering for Indiana to defeat Miami. One would assume that would include most Big Ten fans and Minnesota fans as at least for now Indiana does not have the same vitriol from Gophers fans that a school like either Ohio State or Michigan would have in a similar game.
Vegas also appears to be in the Crimson and Cream train.
The Hoosiers are 8.5 point favorites according to Fan Duel as we head into Monday night’s tilt. Fan’s agree with that spread with 77% of the poll saying they would take the Hoosiers and give the 8.5 points to Miami if they were wagering on the game. That does seem like a large number in a game like this, but we have seen Indiana time and time again run away from good teams. You can be sure Curt Cignetti will not have any issues keeping the pedal fully on the gas until that final whistle blows.
Kick off Monday night is set for 6:50 PM and will air on ESPN with multiple different alternative telecasts on the ESPN family of networks.
