The New York Giants will head to Philadelphia in Week 8 looking to bounce back from one of their most painful losses of the season. Oddsmakers aren’t optimistic the Giants open as 7-point underdogs against the Eagles, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
Less than two weeks ago, New York handed Philadelphia a shocking 34-17 defeat on Thursday Night Football. But since then, both teams have gone in opposite directions. The Giants (2-5) blew an 18-point fourth-quarter lead in a crushing 33-32 loss to Denver,
while the Eagles (5-2) snapped a two-game skid with a 24-17 win over Minnesota.
Where things stand
Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart threw for 283 yards and three touchdowns in Denver before a costly interception helped spark the Broncos’ comeback. Philadelphia, meanwhile, got back on track behind Jalen Hurts’ best performance of the season – 317 total yards and three scores.
The last time these teams met, New York’s defense overwhelmed Hurts, forcing two turnovers and holding the Eagles to just 65 rushing yards. This time, the Giants will need another strong defensive showing to pull off a similar result on the road.
What it means for the Giants
A win would give New York a third victory in five games and some momentum heading into the midseason stretch. A loss, though, could leave the Giants buried deeper in the NFC playoff picture before November even begins.
Kickoff is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 26, at 1 p.m. ET on FOX.
