Barcelona boss Hansi Flick was disappointed to see his side beaten by Alaves on Wednesday on their return to action after winning La Liga.
The Catalans slipped to a 1-0 defeat to Alaves and Flick said he wasn’t happy with the result but was pleased with how his team performed.
“I’m disappointed with the result. We wanted to win today, but I saw some positives. I’m happy with the team’s performance. Álvaro made his debut and played very well. Espart and Marqués also played well, as did Bernal after
his injury,” he said.
“We had chances in the first half too, but in the end we conceded from a corner. We lacked concentration at those moments. We have to accept the result and prepare for Sunday’s game.
“The attitude and mentality were good, but it wasn’t an easy match. Alavés played very aggressively, we all saw that. In the end, that’s how it is, and we have to accept it.”
Flick made changes to his team for the match, resting some of his key players and giving youngster Alvaro Cortes a start. The Barcelona boss admitted he was happy with the youngster’s performance.
“Álvaro Cortés has been doing very well. He’s a player who has improved a lot and is on the path we want, particularly with aerial duels,” he added.
Barca are back in action on Sunday against Real Betis in their final home game of the season.
