What is the story about?

It’s time for the second of three games between the San Francisco Giants and the New York Mets, and here’s hoping it goes better than the first game did.

Taking the mound for the Giants is right-hander Anthony Molina, the 24-year old who came to the Giants in the Tyler Mahle trade. In two games with the Giants, Molina is 2-0 with a 2.89 ERA, a 3.31 FIP, and seven strikeouts to just one walk in 9.1 innings.

For the Mets, it’s left-hander Zac Thornton, a 24-year old in his first MLB season. Thornton, who

was taken in the fifth round of the 2023 draft, has made 11 starts this year, and is 3-4 with a 2.93 ERA, a 3.89 FIP, and 45 strikeouts to 14 walks in 61.1 innings. In his last start, Thornton gave up two runs in five innings against the Houston Astros.
