In the wake of Germany’s elimination from the 2026 World Cup, a clear out of the house was conducted. Julian Nagelsmann stepped down from his role as manager of the national team and took his long-time assistant coaches with him. Jürgen Klopp is his successor, and he too will be bringing on someone he knows very well:
After a bit of digging, it appears that Kosicke is the man behind Bayern’s famous slogan “Mia San Mia”. I won’t go into full detail, but the gist of it is that Kosicke and his then-business partner Oliver Bierhoff were headed to Switzerland for a FIFA event in 2008, and Uli Hoeneß happened to be in the same plane where he was heard complaining about his players who didn’t know what it meant to play for Bayern.
Kosicke said he could help out with Uli’s predicament, but the former made sure to play his cards carefully and coordinated with the right people (Uli included). He eventually came up with “Mia San Mia”, which originally said “Mir San Mir” because Kosicke is from Bremen and isn’t well versed in Bavarian. He himself said he’s not the inventor of the slogan per se, but he’s the catalyst for it.
