Juventus are expected to have a busy Deadline Day on Tuesday, but mostly because of the fact that multiple players who they have agreed to bring in on loan will be putting pen to paper on their contracts for the 2026-27 season. There is, however, one final combination of potential deals that are very much connected and could see one final change to Juve’s defense.
According to IlBianconero’s Romeo Agresti and TuttoJuve’s Mirko Di Natale among others, Juventus have had talks with Nicolás Tagliafico’s
camp over the current Lyon left back’s willingness to leave Ligue 1 and head to Italy on the final day summer transfer window. That is, of course, if Juventus and Atalanta are able to agree to a deal for Juan Cabal, who is being sought by the same director who brought him to Turin two years ago, Cristiano Giuntoli.
Juventus are still waiting on an offer for Cabal from Atalanta, according to Di Natale. La Dea have seen multiple fullbacks head to the Premier League over the course of the summer transfer window, and have been one of the least active clubs in Serie A this summer, signing just two players and spending all of €14 million as of Monday.
Cabal being linked with a move to Atalanta has been looked on and then off and now on again over the last handful of days. Juventus have been trying to offload the Colombian left back who had a rough second season in Turin all summer long, with a move to Bologna first being discussed at the same time in which they were negotiating for Jhon Lucumí. That, oviously, never materialized and Cabal heads into the final hours of the transfer window still somewhat uncertain about where he will be playing once the window closes.
Tagliafico would be a much more experienced option compared to Cabal, although what he has left at age 34 is probably a reasonable thought. He is coming off a run to the World Cup final with Argentina, starting the extra-time loss to Spain and being matched up against one of the best talents in the world today, Lamine Yamal.
He has been at Lyon since 2022 after moving to Ligue 1 following a four-year spell with Ajax.
