While the 2026 NFL draft is more than three months away, it seems very likely that the Las Vegas Raiders will select Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza with the No. 1 overall pick.
If that, indeed, happen,
Mendoza will join a select group of college players. The group consists of quarterbacks who won a Heisman Trophy, the national championship and be drafted No.1 overall. According to The Associated Press, Mendoza would be the fifth such quarterback to accomplish those feats.
The others are, in the modern draft era are, Cam Newton, Jameis Winston, Joe Burrow and Bryce Young.
The NFL success of those players are varying, but you can’t deny their college accomplishments. Now, it’s Mendoza’s turn.
