What is the story about?

For those Bayern fans living under a rock, Bayern and Los Angeles FC created a join venture named Red&Gold Football, which is essentially intended to be a footballing pathway for young talent all over the world. To do so, Red&Gold Football has either agreed partnerships or bought a majority stake in clubs from South America, Africa and other continents to add to its’ list of partners.

All six Red&Gold partners, as well as Grasshoppers Zürich (a club in which Los Angeles FC used to own a majority stake

in) and SV Elversberg (no clue why they were here), met together in Munich to send their youth teams to a three-day tournament, the Red&Gold Global Trophy. Clearly, it is a very prestigious award.

Regardless, the tournament consists of 3 preliminary matches, a semifinal and a final. Bayern’s official website captured the club’s progress throughout the 3 days:

As in previous years, the FC Bayern Campus hosted the three-day Red&Gold Global Trophy. After Racing Montevideo (Uruguay) won the cup in 2025, this year a mixed team of FC Bayern’s U19 and U17 players emerged victorious. Following a hard-fought preliminary round with two draws against Grasshoppers Zurich (3-3) and Gambinos Stars Africa (0-0), the Munich side secured second place in their group with a convincing 4-0 victory against Jeju SK FC on the second day of the tournament. In the semi-final, Leonhard Haas ‘s team faced the winners of Group B, SD Aucas. Bayern prevailed against the Ecuadorians 3-2 in a penalty shootout. In the final, the U19 juniors faced Gambinos Stars Africa once again, who had defeated the previous year’s winners from Montevideo in a penalty shootout in their semi-final match. As in the preliminary round, the final ended in a draw after regulation time. Munich then showed nerves of steel from the penalty spot (4-2) and were ultimately able to lift the trophy.
