Tyrique George will be hoping for more minutes in the second half of the season after agreeing to join Everton on loan for the rest of the campaign, according to an exclusive a few hours ago from The Athletic. It does not appear that there are any additional clauses or considerations included in the loan.
As in the summer, the Chelsea Academy product had been expected to leave the club on a permanent basis. In the summer, a deal was all but done with Fulham, before breaking own at the eleventh hour.
So he now heads to Merseyside, where he’s expected to help them cope with the season-ending injury suffered by Jack Grealish last month.
George, who’s been with Chelsea since age 8 and is about to 20 years old, already has 37 senior appearances under his belt for the Blues, with six goals (including one of the biggest ones last season, the late equalizer away to Fulham). But he’s played less than 500 minutes so far this season and has been an afterthought in our league games (he’s made the matchday squad just once since October). He has 18 months left on his contract, though Chelsea do have the option to extend it by a year, to 2028.
