After looking at players No. 10 through No. 6 in the Colts’ trade-value rankings, the second part of this exercise turns to the team’s most valuable assets. This does not mean Indianapolis should trade any of these players, and in most cases, the Colts would be creating a major roster hole by even considering it. The goal is simply to estimate each player’s league-wide trade value based on age, production, contract, position and how valuable similar players tend to be around the NFL.
5. Laiatu Latu

Latu’s value is built on age, contract control and positional importance. Young edge rushers with legitimate pass-rush upside are among the most valuable players in football, and Latu has already shown enough to be viewed as a building block for the Colts’ defense. He is not just a rotational player anymore. He is someone teams would look at and believe there is still another level coming.
A second-round pick feels like the safest projected value, but there is a real argument that the number could climb higher. If a team believed Latu was on the verge of becoming a double-digit sack edge rusher, a late first-round pick would not be impossible. Edge is too important, and young pass rushers do not become available often.
For the Colts, trading him would make very little sense. They need more pass rush, not less, and moving Latu would create the same type of hole they have been trying to fill for years. Still, in a pure trade-value exercise, he belongs this high because of the position he plays and the trajectory he appears to be on.
4. Quenton Nelson
Projected trade value: Second-round pick plus a Day 3 pick
Nelson is still one of the best guards in football, and his league-wide reputation remains extremely strong. He is consistent, durable, powerful and respected around the NFL.
The reason his value is not higher comes down to age, contract and position. Guards are valuable, but they do not carry the same trade market as quarterbacks, left tackles, edge rushers or corners. Nelson’s salary would also factor into the return, which probably keeps him out of first-round territory.
A second-round pick plus a Day 3 selection feels realistic. A contender with offensive line issues could justify that kind of move, especially if it believed Nelson was the difference between a good line and a dominant one. For the Colts, though, Nelson is still worth more than the pick package because of what he means to the offensive identity and the stability he gives the line.
3. Jonathan Taylor
Projected trade value: Second-round pick or third-round pick plus another selection
Taylor is still one of the best running backs in football, but running back trade value is always complicated. His talent says he should be worth a premium pick. The market for veteran running backs says teams would be more cautious.
That is why his projected value probably sits somewhere between a straight second-round pick and a third-round pick plus another selection. A contender with a strong roster and a clear need at running back could talk itself into paying the higher price, especially because Taylor can still change an offense when healthy. He is not just a volume back. He is a game-breaking player who can carry a team through stretches and force defenses to adjust.
The issue is that teams are careful with age, mileage and contract cost at the position. Taylor’s value to the Colts is likely higher than his value on the open market because he is still the centerpiece of their offense. Trading him would remove the one player who can consistently tilt the field for Indianapolis, and unless the return was overwhelming, it would be hard to justify.
2. Tyler Warren
Projected trade value: Late first-round pick or early second-round pick plus more
Warren is the most interesting player on the list because his value is based on youth, upside and cheap contract control. If a young tight end looks like a future difference-maker, the trade value becomes significant quickly. He gives the Colts a rare offensive piece: a player who can win as a receiver, create mismatches, help the run game and become a long-term security blanket for the quarterback.
The positional value of tight end keeps this from being a clean top-of-the-first-round type return, but a late first-round pick feels reasonable if another team believes he is on the path to becoming a top-tier player at the position. At minimum, an early second-round pick plus another selection would have to be the conversation.
For Indianapolis, Warren is exactly the kind of player a team should want to keep. Young, talented offensive weapons on rookie contracts are extremely valuable, and his role should only grow. This is one of those cases where the trade value may be high, but the practical answer is simple: the Colts should not be interested unless a team badly overpays.
1. Sauce Gardner
Projected trade value: Two first-round picks
Gardner is the easiest name on the list.
The Colts already know his value because they paid a massive price to get him. Elite cornerbacks in their prime do not come cheap, and Gardner checks every major box: age, talent, reputation, position value and proven production. He is one of the rare defensive backs who can change the way a defense is built because he gives a team a true No. 1 corner.
Two first-round picks is the right projected value because that is the level of player he is. If anything, the Colts would probably need more than that to seriously consider moving him, especially after already making the aggressive decision to acquire him. Trading him away would defeat the entire purpose of the move.
Gardner is the most valuable trade asset on the roster because he combines premium-position value with rare talent and prime years still ahead of him. The Colts have good players, but he is the one whose trade market would be the strongest, cleanest and easiest to define.
Final thought
The top of the Colts’ trade-value list shows where the roster has legitimate high-end pieces. Gardner is the clear No. 1, Warren is the young offensive asset with the most upside, and Taylor, Nelson, Latu and Raimann all carry strong value for different reasons.
That does not mean Indianapolis should move any of them. In most cases, the player is more useful to the Colts than the draft pick would be.
