The Wisconsin Badgers are getting a primetime slot at Camp Randall Stadium for their homecoming game against their rival Iowa Hawkeyes, with the Heartland Trophy at stake.
Kickoff is slated for 6:00 p.m.
for the Week 7 matchup between the Badgers and the Hawkeyes, although the game will be played on FS1, rather than the usual NBC for primetime games. Instead, that slot is going to Michigan and USC.
The Heartland Trophy game is a big one for the Badgers yearly, but perhaps with even bigger stakes in 2025. Wisconsin was blown out in a humiliating 42-10 loss at Kinnick Stadium last season, and that loss stuck with several veterans heading into the season. In addition, the Badgers have lost three straight games to Iowa, and head coach Luke Fickell is in dire need of a key win.
Moreover, it may be Wisconsin’s best chance at a win this season, as the Badgers have quite a daunting schedule ahead of them. Five of the Badgers’ eight remaining opponents are ranked, with three in the top 10. The Washington Huskies are not far behind, being one of the best offenses in the country this year, while Minnesota isn’t half bad either, with a 3-1 record so far.
Iowa has started 3-2 with close losses to Iowa State and Indiana. So, they could very well be favored when coming to Camp Randall in a few weeks. But, that is a ‘must-win’ for the Badgers.
Before facing Iowa in Week 7, the Badgers are traveling to face the Michigan Wolverines this weekend, with kickoff slated for 11:00 a.m. on FOX in the Big House.
