According to a report from Pete Nakos at On3, All-American cornerback Jermod McCoy has not shut down his 2025 season and is still pushing for a return. Nakos says McCoy practiced in limited fashion with
pads on during Tuesday afternoon’s session.
McCoy tore his ACL back in January during an offseason workout and has been working his way back ever since. His massive 2024 season put him all over the NFL’s radar, prompting some to speculate that he could just sit out the 2025 season entirely. However, according to Nakos, he’s pushing to make a return for the final three games.
Could Tennessee’s result on Saturday play into that? The Volunteers would still have everything to play for with a win over the Sooners.
Nakos also reports that Colton Hood, who is playing in place of McCoy, is day-to-day with a calf strain. Hood has also popped up in first round mock drafts after playing so well in the first several games of the season. Hood’s absence would leave the cornerback room extremely thin, likely with Ty Redmond and William Wright getting the start.
Finally, linebacker Arion Carter was called doubtful for the Oklahoma game. Carter also missed the Kentucky game last weekend.
Tennessee’s official injury report will be out tonight.
Kickoff for Tennessee and Oklahoma is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
