The Miami Dolphins lost to the Las Vegas Raiders 27-13 on Sunday in a game that never felt that close. Miami struggled in nearly every aspect of the game. It was a solid beatdown of the visiting Dolphins at the hands of the Raiders, getting the 2026 season off to a rough start for Miami.
However, it was not all ugly for Miami. Some of it was actually pretty good, even if it did not feel like it in the moment. Rookie wide receiver Caleb Douglas was a bright spot in the game, backing up a strong performance
during training camp and (briefly) the preseason.
Miami Herald reporter C. Isaiah Small took a look at Douglas’ performance against the Raiders, a performance that set a new franchise mark for a rookie:
“Honestly,” the Miami Dolphins wide receiver said calmly, “I felt like I just made the plays that came to me.”
That, however, doesn’t take away from the magnitude of his performance. In fact, Douglas set the franchise record for the most receiving yards (94) during a rookie’s debut. Even more impressive: the total tied Tyreek Hill’s mark for the most receiving yards for any Dolphin in their debut.
