We’ve been advocating for an unchanged lineup for the past few games, but last-minute injuries put a stop to that run (of consistency and of wins) over the weekend. Xabi Alonso’s solution then did not work. Will he go with something a bit more straightforward, like an actual striker maybe?
For the WAGNH Community, the choice for today is pretty simple. Start Danny Welbeck. Start Estêvão. Rest Neto (44%). Sit Jordan Henderson (19%). And, since it’s “just” the League Cup, give Wesley Fofana a runout.
Our most expensive defender ever has not been seen on the pitch since the 3-0 defeat at Brentford, but perhaps today is a good day to see if he’s gotten his act together yet.
Otherwise, it’s as strong of a lineup as we can roll out, which might be a tough ask given that we have a must-win game coming up against Manchester United this weekend.
3-4-3 (60%)
Penders (94%) | Colwill (66%), Fofana (62%), Acheampong (60%) | Hato (65%), Lavia (75%), Caicedo (73%), Palestra (74%) | Rogers (69%), Welbeck (76%), Estêvão (96%)
Maxence Lacroix (60%) just misses out while Valentin Barco (48%) and Pedro Neto (44%) aren’t too far behind either. Malo Gusto (33%) has his best showing for some time, while Geovany Quenda gets a decent 26% despite his poor showing on Saturday. Mystery man Emmanuel Emegha pops in with 21%. Maybe he’ll pop in with a goal sometime soon as well.
