In what might be termed “shocking” news, the Pirates – yes, the actual, real life Pittsburgh Pirates – have made an offer to Kyle Schwarber this offseason to come play for them.
No word yet on what the offer was, but it being $100 million in gold doubloons should not be ruled out.
This shouldn’t be too surprising that the Pirates made this offer. They’re in trouble with the union again for not spending their revenue sharing money, and making it known that “darn it, we really tried!” may be something they can hang a banner from.
This also should not be considered much of a threat to the Phillies. They can outspend anything the Pirates offer and probably gives them a measuring stick from which they can base their offer from. We’ll stay tuned to this though.
