Barcelona striker Hamza Abdelkarim scored his first international goal on Tuesday as Egypt cruised past South Sudan 5-0 in an AFCON qualifier.
Goals from Mostafa Zico, Ibrahim Adel and a brace from Omar Marmoush had the Pharoahs in control by the time Abdelkarim was introduced in the 87th minute.
However, the Barcelona youngster ensured Egypt scored again by netting the team’s fifth in stoppage time when he tapped into an empty net after the goalkeeper had parried a shot across goal.
It’s a great moment for Abdelkarim who has praised by manager Hossam Hassan before the match.
“He is a tremendous player and a great prospect. We must be patient, but he is certainly set to play a bigger role from now on and already has the chance to get more playing time. He is ready,” he told reporters.
Egypt are due to play again in a friendly against South Africa on Sunday before Abdelkarim heads back to Barcelona to link back up with his club side.
