This Cubs offseason appears to be, at least so far, “Sign All The Relievers Except The Big-Name Ones” year for Jed Hoyer. Next up:
Hunter Harvey was the Orioles’ first-round pick (22nd overall) in 2013 out of high school in North Carolina and eventually wound up with the Nationals, where he had a couple of good relief years in 2022 and 2023. His 2024 wasn’t as good and eventually he wound up with the Royals in 2025, where he was limited to 12 appearances due to shoulder and groin issues. The 12 outings covering 10.1 innings were good — six hits and one walk (0.656 WHIP), no runs allowed, and 11 strikeouts.
Harvey throws hard and has a good selection of offspeed pitches:

This seems like a decent signing, depending on the money, which has not yet been reported. Also, the Cubs have not yet announced this signing. When they do, the Cubs’ 40-man roster will stand at 36 players.
