Boy did we learn a lot about Luka Dončić on Thursday.
As part of his summer media tour, Luka stopped by the popular YouTube show ‘Hot Ones’ to eat some spicy chicken wings and answer questions. And as guests are prone to do, the answers really started flowing once the wings started burning.
In lieu of giving a full recap, here’s a rundown of the best moments from the episode.
Slovenian curse words
Anyone who has watched “Hot Ones” before knows the best moment is typically later in the show when the wing covered in Da Bomb
comes up. Once the interviewee bites into that wing, all hell typically breaks loose and Luka was no exception.
Luka’s first taste of Da Bomb led to him instinctively speaking Slovenian, which he tried to cover up.
I’m going to go on a limb and say that didn’t not mean good morning. James Dator over at SB Nation wrote a bit more about Luka’s cursing, but this was definitely the funniest moment of the episode.
Insane pregame playlist
Luka’s love of musicals is not new information. He’s an avid fan of “Mama Mia” and spoke about attending a show on Broadway during the episode. He also called “High School Musical” the best Disney Channel original movie and “Get’cha Head in the Game” as the best song from it.
Then, he wrapped up by revealing he listens to Britney Spears and, specifically, “Oops I Did It Again” as a song he listens to pregame.
Does this all mean that Luka’s pregame playlist resembles that of a 13-year-old girl’s in 2006?
Reliving game-winners
Luka was also asked about if there were any favorite plays that stuck out to him throughout his career and he mentioned a couple of game-winners. First, he noted the shot against Rudy Gobert in the Western Conference Finals in 2024.
He also brought up a shot that lots of Lakers fans will enjoy in the game-winner he hit against the Clippers in the bubble in the playoffs, too.
Comparing Europe to NBA
Luka talked a bit about Europe and comparing it to the NBA. For one, he said there is more trash talking in the NBA than in Europe, specifically saying, “Anybody talks.”
He was also asked about the toughest crowds he’s played in front of and talked about Serbia, Greece and Turkey being tough. He specifically mentioned a game against Panathinaikos while he was at Real Madrid in which he fell behind 20-0 to start the contest.
Luka also had other nuggets in there, including lots of love for former teammate Kyrie Irving and that he used to play Medal of Honor on Playstation 2. It’s a fun episode worth watching, especially as we wait for the Lakers next preseason game and Luka’s debut.
