Take a look at the newest numbers for our newest Bears.
CB, Malik Muhammad – #24
S, Dillon Thieneman – #31
LB, Keyshaun Elliot – #49
C, Logan Jones – #54
WR, Zavion Thomas – #81
TE, Sam Roush – #87
DT, Jordan van den Berg – #96
Obviously, Dillon Thieneman’s #31 is no surprise to anyone and I think he will look super clean in it. In our Bears Over Beers draft recap last week, I repped my old #31 Rashaan Salaam jersey (Rest in Peace) and am confident
the former All-American will rep it well.
Malik Muhammad in #24 will look good. Hopefully his play at CB surpasses that of former DBs Kelvin Hayden and Ricky Manning Jr.
Keyshaun Elliot sliding right into last years starting LB and team captain Tremaine Edmunds will take some getting used to, though not quite as eye-catching as his new teammate, Logan Jones.
The new Bears rookie Center from Iowa will be the first Bears player to don #54 since Brian Urlacher himself. Both players enter the league mature beyond their years with a hairline to show for it.
Zavion Thomas clearly lost the fight (so far) to be the first Bears player to ever wear #0 and instead is settling for #81. I’d be happy to see him bring some Rashied Davis vibes on Sundays too.
Hopefully Sam Roush has more of an impact in #87 than former Bear Tight End Adam Shaheen. And hopefully South African native Jordan van den Berg makes Akiem Hicks proud as he wrecks offenses in #96.
All in all, numbers are cool but I can’t wait to see these guys play meaningful snaps.
Oh, and in what is likely the coolest story regarding rookie numbers is the rumor that UDFA Center Josh Kreutz has been assigned his fathers #57.
