NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero has reported that the Cleveland Browns have signed Elgton Jenkins to a two-year, $24 million contract with a $12 million average per year. $20 million of that $24 million is guaranteed, per Pelissero (though the term “guarantee” has been manipulated in recent years).
$12 million per is significantly less than what Jenkins was under contract for with the Green Bay Packers for 2026, before he was released. Jenkins was due $20 million in cash in 2026, and after failing to
receive that on the open market, it seems clear that his deal didn’t have trade value.
For what it’s worth, the Packers officially released Jenkins today with a “failed physical” designation, which is interesting since he’s signing with the Browns, presumably with the hopes that he’ll be able to pass their physical, on the same day. Jenkins, after moving to center in 2025, fractured his leg and suffered ligament damage in November, leading to him being placed on the injured reserve.
