The Kentucky Wildcats and Oklahoma Sooners have released their first injury report ahead of Saturday’s showdown in Norman, and it’s a lengthy one on both sides.
For Kentucky, the big news is that running back CJ Baxter is questionable to play this week. Baxter got dinged in the second half of the win over LSU but still finished the game and ran for a touchdown in overtime. He’s been one of the SEC’s best backs thus far, so not having him in Norman would be a major setback for this offense.
Wide receiver
Nic Anderson, who left last week’s win over LSU with a shoulder injury, is listed as probable, so he should be good to go this week as long as there are no setbacks.
Defensive tackle Kalen Edwards, who missed last week, is questionable to play.
As expected, linebacker Antwan Smith and cornerback Jaden Smith remain out after suffering injuries at South Carolina.
Linebacker Tavion Wallace, out for the past two weeks, is still listed as out.
Fellow linebacker Alex Afari Jr. is listed as questionable as he works through the legal process in hopes of regaining eligibility. He’s healthy, so if granted eligibility in the courts, he should play Saturday, but that’s a big if right now.
Cornerback Grant Grayton remains out.
Reserve defensive end Tyler Thomas is doubtful.
Reserve tight end Elijah Brown is questionable.
Finally, cornerback Hassan Sykes is probable to play.
For Oklahoma, standout left tackle Michael Fasusi is nearing a return from a shoulder injury that has kept him out since Week 1. He’s currently listed as questionable.
Starting left guard Eddy Pierre-Louis, who missed last week’s win over No. 1 Texas, is questionable.
Backup lineman Fred Hinton is questionable as well.
Cornerback Eli Bowen, who missed last week, is questionable to play.
Fellow cornerback Jacobe Johnson, who was also out last week, is listed as out for this one.
Wide receiver Parker Livingstone, who has six catches for 51 yards this year, is questionable.
Running back Tory Blaylock, who has 10 carries for 22 yards, is probable.
Tight end Jack Van Dorselaer, who does not have a catch this season, is probable.
Finally, linebacker Taylor Heim, running back Xavier Robinson, tight end Trynae Washington, and wide receiver Trell Harris have been ruled out.
