Vincent Kompany has steered Bayern Munich to a domestic double thanks to a 3-0 win in the DFB-Pokal final against Stuttgart; Harry Kane scored a second-half hat trick to propel the Bavarians to victory. Kompany’s former teammate at Manchester City İlkay Gündoğan tweeted a congratulatory message for the Belgian coach on X:
Bayern fans have run out of superlatives to describe the Kompany revolution in Munich. After a disappointing year and a half under Thomas Tuchel, the Rekordmeister needed someone to guide the club back to where it belongs.
Considering the former Hamburg and Anderlecht defender was low on the pecking order of managers Bayern were trying to get in 2024, what he has done at the club is nothing short of amazing. It took Kompany two years to transform Bayern back into the juggernaut that they once were before Tuchel, and he and the team can only go up from here.
