There were rumors that Tennessee cornerback Jermod McCoy could fall out of the first round, but not many had him going on day three. McCoy led off Saturday, finally coming off the board with the 101st overall pick to kickoff the fourth round.
McCoy lands with the Las Vegas Raiders.
McCoy’s slide ends here, following questions about his knee. According to reports, teams aren’t concerned with his healing ACL. They’re instead worried about a cartilage
problem, one that could require more surgery and another year on the field missed. McCoy missed the entire 2025 season after tearing his ACL in January of 2025.
Before that, the NFL was all over him. McCoy’s ability to get his hands on the ball is special, as evidenced by his four interceptions in 2024.
Here’s more from our profile on him earlier this week.
“A lengthy frame to go along with quick-twitch reactions, he’s able to be sticky in man coverage. McCoy’s ability to find the ball and make a play on it is special, as evidenced by his 2024 season. The Texas native made game-changing plays for Tennessee against Oklahoma, Alabama and Vanderbilt during his breakout season in Knoxville.”
McCoy joins a defensive backfield that badly needs help, although that help might come in 2027. The Raiders will now decide what to do next as they try to maximize McCoy’s career.
