The Portland Trail Blazers are having a modestly successful 2025-26 season, with a record near .500 as the year closes and a legitimate chance to make the 2026 NBA Playoffs through the Play-In Tournament in April.
That doesn’t mean everything is going perfectly. A 35-36 performance so far leaves room for improvement. That’s true of the team and of individual players.
Over the last two weeks in the Blazer’s Edge Mailbag I’ve received two separate questions asking about a pair of Trail Blazers players.
I’m not going to name the specific players as it’ll bias the question I’m about to ask. Let’s just say that each email named a player, listed reasons the email author thought this player was a disappointment, then asked if I agreed that the player was (in essence) the biggest source of disappointment for the season.
Personally I would opt out of that question by saying that the arrest of suspended Head Coach Chauncey Billups was the most disappointing aspect of the year. And really, I didn’t feel like talking at length about disappointment in either player mentioned. However, it did cause me to be curious.
I know the season isn’t over, but we’ve been through 85% of it or so now. You pretty much know who’s who and how everybody is performing. Given that, who would you say is the biggest disappointment of the year for you? I’d like to see how many people agree (in a blind survey) with our two email writers or whether the consensus lies elsewhere.
Share your thoughts in the comments section. It’s a totally subjective question. “Most disappointing” doesn’t necessarily mean “worst player”. Some really good players can disappoint if they fall below your personal expectations. Mostly just follow your gut and your bias, telling us who’s that guy for you. I’m curious to see your responses.
