Robin Roefs: 7/10
Didn’t have much to do and was well protected by his defence but made one really good save to his left, another with his feet in injury time and was reliable in the air and with the ball.
Trai Hume: 8/10
Played on the left of the defence today and did a really good job defensively, other than being turned very early into the game but recovered well from that. Got an assist with a lovely weighted ball to Mukiele and then almost got a goal himself but his diving header came back off the outside of the post.
Nordi Mukiele: 9/10
Another
colossal performance by Mukiele, shut down everything down the right and got forward to great effect. Scored a goal and was a threat with his thrown ins.
Dan Ballard: 8/10
Threw himself at everything that came his way and made a number of important blocks.
Omar Alderete: 8/10
Was a brick wall at the back alongside Ballard, bailed Rigg out with an important block after a poor pass by the youngster and showed his quality on the ball with a lovely flighted ball over the top for an Isidor chance.
Granit Xhaka (C): 7/10
Sat in front of the back four and gave them plenty of protection, did make one sloppy pass early on that Wolves couldn’t capitalise on but put in a huge shift, even broke up the pitch at the death to provide Mayenda an option.
Noah Sadiki: 7/10
Picked up an injury on international duty but still got about the pitch constantly, helping out in attack before being a shield in front of the back four. Despite that still didn’t look quite fit and went off shortly after rolling his ankle.
Chris Rigg: 6/10
Really good work off the ball, including a lung bursting effort to track back shortly before half time but was very wasteful on the ball with a number of passes given to Wolves in dangerous areas.
Bertrand Traore: 5/10
Struggled to get into the game and then was taken off in the second half after giving the ball away twice in quick succession.
Enzo Le Fee: 6/10
A bit of skill down the left was the start of the opening goal and used the ball well when he had it but not a lot of threat around the box.
Wilson Isidor: 6/10
Put the ball in the back of the net early on, running in behind and smashing the ball to the back of the net but was just offside and had a snapshot from an Alderete ball over the top that went just wide after the break. Most of his game was putting the defenders under pressure.
Substitutes
Chemsdine Talbi: 7/10
Gave us an outlet with his pace when he came on, immediately getting down the outside and getting a cross off. Created the final goal with a surging run and saw the attempted pass rebounding in off a Wolves player.
Lutsharel Geertruida: 6/10
Helped shore us up at the back with Wolves starting to threaten.
Eliezer Mayenda: 6/10
A trademark surging run late on almost created himself a goal but his run off the ball helped secure the own goal.
Dan Neil: N/A
A late change for the tiring Talbi.
Man of the Match: Nordi Mukiele
Man of the match can only be Mukiele who was outstanding yet again. Looks unbeatable defensively, with his pace, strength and reading of the game but he was also really calm on the ball, a threat with his long throw ins and scored the opener after playing a clever one-two with Hume.
