Like a lot of players right now, former Blue Devil Mark Mitchell, and some other athletes, have gone to court to try to get a fifth year. They had their hearing on Friday, but Jefferson County Judge Brian C. Edwards will not issue an opinion until sometime next week.
Both Louisville and Kentucky fans feel they have a shot at Mitchell, and the versatile, 6-9 forward would help either team a great deal.
For a bit of reference, the county seat of Jefferson County is Louisville. We’re not suggesting that
that’s an advantage for Louisville, though, but our Kentucky map knowledge is a bit lacking, and we’d hate to be a judge in or near Lexington who told BBN no. That would not go over well.
Not that there aren’t Kentucky fans in Louisville, of course, and if he chose either school over the other, the other might just wish the judge had ruled against Mitchell.
And obviously, we’d expect the judge to do his duty properly. The tension over the possible resolutions is interesting.
It’s probably not nearly as interesting to Mitchell, though, who will have to wait another week and possibly have to settle for less than he might get from either free-spending school.
Assuming he does prevail in court, though, and those were his two top choices, where would he go? If you listen to 7th grade Mark, the answer is clear.
