Harry Kane remains the undisputed No. 9 in Vincent Kompany’s squad, but Bayern Munich will need a reliable option behind him across a long and demanding season.
That is where Ismaël Saibari could become particularly interesting.
The Moroccan international brings versatility, athleticism, technical quality, and the ability to play in multiple attacking roles. While he is not a like-for-like replacement for Kane, his skill set could give Kompany another option when Kane needs a rest or when Bayern Munich
need a different attacking profile.
So far, however, the results have been mixed (at best) for Saibari in the No. 9 role.
The bigger question is whether Saibari can develop the consistency, movement, finishing, and physical presence required to handle the expectations of playing as Kane’s backup at Bayern Munich.
He does not need to become another Harry Kane(who is?). Saibari simply needs to become a player Kompany trusts when Kane is unavailable or needs a breather.
Could Saibari grow into that role and give Bayern Munich the dependable striker depth they need?
