Barcelona boss Hansi Flick shared his thoughts on Joao Cancelo after seeing the Portugal international put in another influential showing for his team in Sunday’s 3-1 win over Real Betis.
Cancelo scored Barcelona’s third goal of the night to secure the three points and cap another outstanding performance from the Portugal international.
Flick was asked about the defender, who is currently on loan from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal, and made it clear how much he’s valued his contribution.
“Everyone
can see what Cancelo has given us in the last few games. I appreciate it very much,” he told reporters.
“His transfer is not easy, but Deco has to manage his future. Let’s wait and see what happens. He’s a fantastic player and I appreciate him a lot.”
Keeping hold of Cancelo has now become a “top priority” for Flick and Barca, according to Diario Sport. The club are hoping they can agree a deal with Al-Hilal for Cancelo to stay at Camp Nou on a permanent basis.
