Under the lights and between the hedges — the No. 11 Texas Longhorns head to Athens on Saturday for a matchup against the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs at Samford Stadium with FanDuel logging the Longhorns as 5.5-point
underdogs on Monday after the line moved one point in favor of head coach Steve Sarkisian’s team over the previous day.
It’s the third high-profile matchup between the two programs over the last two seasons and the eighth in the all-time series after Georgia pushed Texas out of the No. 1 ranking last year with a 30-15 demolition in Austin in October and secured the SEC championship with a 22-19 overtime win in Atlanta in December.
At 7-2, Texas still has conference championship and College Football Playoff hopes in the midst of a four-game winning streak, but likely needs to finish the regular season with three more wins to keep those hopes alive. Georgia is 8-1, continuing its consistent success under head coach Kirby Smart, suffering its only setback in a rare home loss to Alabama in late September, the program’s first loss in Athens since 2019, breaking a program-record 33-game home winning streak.
Kick is at 6:30 p.m. Central on ABC.
