Tulsa wide receiver Zion Steptoe has committed to transferring to Minnesota. He was the third-leading receiver for the Golden Hurricane this season with 21 receptions for 272 receiving yards.
Steptoe has
one year of eligibility remaining.
Steptoe started his college career at Purdue, where he played wide receiver as a freshman before redshirting and being moved to defensive back in his second year with the Boilermakers. He then transferred to Tulsa, where he was able to return to his original position and play wide receiver.
This is the third transfer wide receiver to sign with the Golden Gophers this portal season, joining Perry Thompson (Auburn) and Noah Jennings (Cincinnati). Head coach P.J. Fleck and new wide receivers coach Isaac Fruechte have made a concerted effort to bring in more targets for quarterback Drake Lindsey in the passing game, but we’ll have to wait until the fall to see whether these new faces can make an impact on the field
