While Diamondbacks won two of three games at Dodger Stadium, and both Arizona and the Giants are flirting with .500 again, the NL West remains only a two-team race, and the Dodgers broke their tie with San Diego by winning four of six games last week. Here’s what happened around the division.
The Padres lost a series in Seattle, then lost another series in Minnesota to fall back into second place in the division. But they also lost shortstop Xander Bogaerts, who fouled a ball off his left foot which
caused a fracture. Cheri Bell at Gaslamp Ball wrote about the injured-list stint and where San Diego goes from here.
Randy Rodríguez was an All-Star this season for the Giants, but the right-hander was recommended for Tommy John surgery this week, which would wipe out the rest of this season and nearly all of 2026 as well. Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle has more.
Jung-Ho Lee is racking up doubles and triples this season (30 and 10, respectively, through Sunday). Bryan Murphy at McCovey Chronicles wrote about Lee’s potentially unprecedented season in Giants history.
Sure the Rockies have been a disaster on the field this season, on pace for 116 losses, but the scoreboard operator at Coors Field is having an All-Star season as far as I’m concerned. From Renee Dechert of Purple Row and the Rockies Pitch newsletter:
