Draft or Free Agency: How each NFL team should attack their biggest need | Pro Football Focus
Kansas City Chiefs
Biggest Need: Running back
Target: RB Jeremiyah Love, Notre DameLove ranked second in the
FBS in PFF rushing grade (93.7) and fourth in explosive runs of 10-plus yards (39) in 2025. He is a complete three-down running back and one of the best players in this year’s draft class.
The Chiefs were one of the league’s most feared offenses just a few years ago, but they find themselves in desperate need of playmakers, especially after star quarterback Patrick Mahomes suffered a torn ACL late in the season. With Isiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt both scheduled to hit free agency, running back becomes a position of need. Getting a player of Love’s ability will help take pressure off Mahomes and the passing game, providing the balance the Chiefs have been seeking in recent years.
After the season, Taylor posted to his official Instagram account.
“Not the ending we imagined,” he wrote. “But I’m thankful for the opportunity, the grind, the lessons, and the fans who never wavered. Through wins, losses, and everything in between Chiefs Kingdom showed up. That never goes unnoticed. Forever Grateful.”
That reads like it’s from a player who knows the writing is on the wall. If this is indeed the end of his Chiefs’ tenure, it is likely to be remembered more for Cris Collinsworth’s opening-night spotlight in 2023 — and the untimely penalties that followed — than for being part of a line that allowed no sacks in a Super Bowl LVIII win over the Philadelphia Eagles.
While Taylor proved an upgrade over Andrew Wylie and cut down on his penalties over time, his sixth-highest, $20 million number among right tackles is too rich when the Chiefs are so far over the cap.
3. None of the top seven teams in preseason Super Bowl odds made conference title games for the first time since 2008. The Chiefs, Ravens and Lions were a combined 23-28 this year after going 42-9 last year. Oh, how the mighty have fallen.
Around the NFL
Fangio has guided the Philly defense to tremendous results over the past two seasons. The unit helped fuel the Eagles’ run to winning Super Bowl LIX, ranking second in points allowed and first in total defense. In 2025, Fangio’s fifth-ranked scoring defense kept the Eagles afloat in countless games as the offense floundered.
He is vital to the Eagles bouncing back from a disappointing wild-card exit for a number of reasons.
His talent as a defensive play-caller and schemer is a given, but it’s also getting late in the game, with several teams having reduced the candidate pool by filling defensive coordinator vacancies already.
As of right now, it’s trending the right way for Eagles fans, but they’ll be keeping an eye on any official news with much anticipation.
Sorry, France. Browns-Saints set for Week 7 in Paris | Awful Announcing
According to French outlet RMC Sport, the NFL has scheduled a game between the Cleveland Browns and New Orleans Saints for Sunday, Oct. 25 at the Stade de France in Paris. Unfortunately for the Parisians, these teams posted a combined record of 11-23 last season.
The NFL could schedule up to nine international games next season. In addition to Paris, the league has already confirmed it will play in Australia for the first time, its third-consecutive game in Brazil, a return to Spain, England, Germany, and Mexico.
As part of the agreement, the NFL will take a 10 percent ownership stake in the Disney-owned network, which is valued in the billions. ESPN will own and operate NFL Network, become the official home of fantasy football by merging the NFL’s product with its own, and have the linear rights to the RedZone Channel.
While coverage for next week’s Super Bowl will remain unchanged, ESPN and NFL Network will become intertwined over time. The two networks already provide the most continuous on-air coverage of the league on TV.
NFL Network will be a part of ESPN’s family of networks that already include offshoots, like ESPN2, SEC Network and the ACC Network. ESPN’s Adam Schefter and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, who fight for scoops as insiders, could now appear on their once rival networks.

I Was at the Senior Bowl. Here’s What Stood Out
I was lucky enough to get down to the Senior Bowl this week, so figured I’d share some standouts that actually popped in person.
And yes, I’m still not totally buying Caleb Banks.
Jaydon Ott | Oklahoma | RB – Honestly he was not on my radar. Looked very good with vision and lateral movement ability. Could be a sleeper.
Bud Clark | TCU | – Versatile safety with good instincts and willingness to tackle. Reads routes well and communicates on the back end.
TJ Parker | Clemson | EDGE – One of the best defenders on the field. Strong hands, power through contact, and consistent pressure. Looks like a Day 1 to early Day 2 edge who can start quickly.
Kyle Louis | Pitt | LB/S – Hybrid defender with range and coverage ability. Comfortable in space and around the ball. Projects as a sub package linebacker with flexibility to play safety.
