John Schneider and the Seattle Seahawks on Tuesday made a splash two weeks ahead of the NFL trade deadline by sending a pair of draft picks to the Indianapolis Colts for six-time All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson.
That acquisition, of course, required the team to free up a roster spot, and in order to free up that needed roster spots the Hawks opted to waive 2024 third round pick Christian Haynes.
Haynes struggled to break into the lineup
his first two years in the league, as the Seahawks opted to start Anthony Bradford and Sataoa Laumea during Haynes’ rookie season in 2024, while the healthiest season of Anthony Bradford’s career limited Haynes to just 32 snaps during the 2025 Super Bowl winning campaign.
The 2026 season finally saw Haynes earn a chance to start, although 2026 fifth round pick Beau Stephens rotated into each game, giving both players much needed experience and developmental reps. However, between the selection of four interior offensive linemen in the last two drafts and the trade for All-Pro guard Nelson, Haynes became the odd man out at the position group.
